I have never been much of a "horse person". This is due in fact to an unfortunate sequence of events that took place on a family trail ride in my youth. The trail guide, a macho sort of cowboy, decided he would show me what he would do in the event that my horse "took off". Keep in mind, my horse was sauntering along at a wicked 2 mph--a very mellow equine. Anyway, macho cowboy dude came up behind my horse, whipped it on its hind quarters--which sent my previously mellow horse into a full gallop. Cowboy dude came up beside me and very chivalrously swept me off my horse onto his. Needless to say, I have never sat atop a horse again.
I do, however, have a great respect for those individuals who own and share the company of horses. Their bond is quite obviously special. I had the opportunity to witness this bond first hand a few mornings ago. My friend Crystal and her daughter Sydney have a a great passion for horses and own an equestrian beauty--Luna.
