The trail guide, a macho sort of cowboy, decided he would show me what he would do in the event that my horse "took off".  Keep in mind, my horse was sauntering along at a wicked 2 mph--a very mellow equine.  Anyway, macho cowboy dude came up behind my horse, whipped it on its hind quarters--which sent my previously mellow horse into a full gallop.  Cowboy dude came up beside me and very chivalrously swept me off my horse onto his.  Needless to say, I have never sat atop a horse again.

I do, however, have a great respect for those individuals who own and share the company of horses.  Their bond is quite obviously special.  I had the opportunity to witness this bond first hand a few mornings ago.  My friend Crystal and her daughter Sydney have a a great passion for horses and own an equestrian beauty--Luna.

The Wonderful Sensory Experience of Berkeley! A wonderful visit to Berkeley and all it has to offer.  The '60's ooze off the sidewalks, the sights, smells and textures saturate your senses.  The UC Berkeley campus is beautiful--the political past whispers to you as you move across the campus.  During the McCarthy era in 1949, the Board of Regents adopted an anti-communist loyalty oath to be signed by all University of California employees.  This led to the '60's and the free speech movement which permeated the UC campus.  Student protests continued through the Vietnam War era and spread across the nation. Today, the city of Berkeley is full of quaint coffee shops, international restaurants and a colorful community.

Fun at the Fair! It's always a good time at the San Juan County Fair!  Baby pigs, cows and goats!  Bags of Kettle Corn!  Rides that thrill even the heartiest of 18 year olds!  Even in the drizzle--a grand time!
